This web site is developed in the frame of a project called “AgriPolicy” supported by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme (FP7). AgriPolicy is a network involving one organisation in each New Member State, Candidate and Potential Candidate Countrie (24 partners). A previous project (CEEC AGRI POLICY) was financed under FP6. The old webiste is available here.
Mission
Provide data and analysis on market issues and rural development issues in the 12 New Member States and the 8 Candidates and Potential Candidates Countries.
Stimulate networking and reinforce analytical capacities of the researchers from the network.
Duration
June 2008 to May 2010
Expected results
Studies & analysis: One report on market issue, one report on rural development and reports following a special request from DG Agriculture,
Monitoring in the NMS: consolidated database of key statistics & CAP implementation in the 12 NMS, monitoring reports,
Statistics availability in the CC and PCC: database of existing data and identification of missing data in the Western Balkan Countries, report on European integration & action plan for improvement of agricultural statistics,
Training on policy evaluation & foresight: resource centre on policy evaluation & foresight, training for the researchers, one pilot exercise on policy evaluation,
Others:
Website and symposia in January 2009, September 2009 and May 2010.

Enlargement network - Agro-economic policy analysis of the accession and the candidate states and the Western Balkan countries.
In the view of the integration of new Member States, strengthening the accession process for the remaining Candidate Countries and the closer co-operation with other candidate and precandidate countries, notably of the Western Balkans, it is important to establish and combine insight and analyses of agricultural developments in the different countries. It is important to include all relevant countries (i.e. Malta, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Albania, Serbia (including Kosovo under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244) and Montenegro). The area of expertise and analyses on the individual countries should cover agricultural policies, agricultural markets and food chains, the competitiveness of agri-food products and farms including structural change, the developments of trade and trade relations, as well as developments of rural economies and regions including socio-economic conditions and rural labour markets and agro-environmental situations. Since the agricultural, economic and socio-economic conditions vary significantly between the countries a strong and a wide expertise needs to be established by individual countries as does the capacity to achieve a regional and European perspective in the different analyses.
Expected impact:
the project will provide the analytical tools to increase the effectiveness of EC measures in support of agriculture and rural development within the accession process and the new neighbourhood policy.

| Project summary |
AgriPolicy builds on the results of the previous FP6 project “CEEC AGRI POLICY” which has been awarded financial support following the call FP6-2003-SSP-3 (task 15: Agro-economic policy analysis of the accession and the candidate states and the countries of Western Balkan). The strategic objectives of the project are as follow:
- Networking: the objective is to stimulate the networking between organisations involved in agro-economics analysis. The networking will be stimulated through the organisation of symposium and workshops, the up-date and the maintenance of on-line database of experts and organisations. A dynamic web site will be developed: possibilities will be given to registered members to post news, information about events, reports or publication or data.
- Provide scientific input for policy making: the objective is to prepare analysis on specific topics (1 report 8-monthly as well as “report on demand”). The results of the 8-monthly reports will be presented at symposium (3 symposia in total). The “report on demand” will be prepared according to the EC specific requests. In case the EC does not formulate any request, the resources allocated to this task will be used for an additional report.
- Prepare future analysis: the objective will be to prepare future analysis by collecting quantitative and qualitative information. In the NMS, several monitoring reports will be prepared: these reports will gather detailed information on the CAP implementation. This information will be made available to a wide audience through the web site.
- Develop analytical capacities: the objective is to strengthen the analytical capacities of the research organisations involved in the project. The main objective will be to improve the knowledge and develop skills for policy evaluation and foresight analysis. This will be achieved by implementing training sessions and pilot studies.
